I just bought these flatform shoes. BUT they won't ship until July 3rd. what a shame. But I'll sit quietly and wait for them because I like them that much.

Hm... What to get next?

So whenever I'm home, I become very interested in fashion. My mom and sister always read fashion magazines and love to go shopping. C'mon... it has to rub off.

Anyway, with my birthday, a new job, and being in the city all day - I've been shopping a lot recently. I've gotten quite a few new things.

What I'm posting are not from 1 trip, but rather favorites from various trips over the past month. And the weird thing is... I still want more -_-;;;. Anyway, I've got some good pieces that I really like. A lot are from really good sales that have been going on this summer!

Shirt from H&M, bag from Bloomingdales (by Rebecca Minkoff)

Shirt from BCBG

Sweater from BCBG

Dress from WHO.A.U (a new Korean chain store I finally got to check out!)

WHO.A.U has Hollister/American Eagle like stuff, but cuter and fits petite bodies and Asians better. That's great for me! :)

Interests Revived

So my fashion interests has piqued since I went shopping for a graduation dress in May. I've discovered a new store that I'm in LOVE with: Madewell.

I've always passed by the store in Soho, but I finally went in recently. I LOVE it. The interior takes you to a whole other world. There are vintage cameras, and items that are just beautiful. Their shirts are especially nice.

This was my first purchase at Madewll - an adorable Support Japan T-shirt :).

I love it ^_^. I'm a very big fan of Asian/Japanese style products. I also really want a bag from Superdry.

Lanvin loves H&M

So I just found out about another collaboration today: Lanvin artistic director Alber Elbaz worked on a haute couture collection for H&M. It began selling in select H&M stores on November 20th. Here are some key pieces from the campaign. Clothing prices range from about $50 - $300. (This may be old news, but bear with me).

Promotional Concept: Different stories all happening in one French hotel. Seems very inspired from Stanley Kubrick's "The Shinging" (mostly because of the twin maids).

Fashion Concept: Seems very "Va va voom" French girl combined with Juicy Couture princess.

Video Promotions:

Interesting video. I don't think it's amazing, but it has a brand and personality. This concept is overused though.

So this is the fashion show. It's a bit cheap looking, but I'll admit... I wouldn't mind having a few of the pieces. Personsally the jewelry seems the weakest to me. Plastic flower? C'mon Lanvin. You're SO much classier than than. I do like their shoes though.. as well as the t-shirts. I would have to see the dresses in real life to see the details before I judge those.

Not sure that I've heard of this blogger before, but she is ADORABLE. H&M is obviously trying to key into the "blogger trend" by having this promotional video on their website.

Website:

The stylized bubbles are interesting. They look illustrated and not digital. They pop up ad fade away, creating a kind of "story."

You can "zoom up" to a room.

You can also "zoom in" on the details of the clothes.

One also has the ability of rotating the model to see the clothes from 3 different angles.

So overall.... EH. Nothing too amazing. They've created a brand. It works with the H&M look. But somewhere along the way, Lanvin got lost. Where's it's class and personality? It's barely tricking where it could be shining.

I say: Too much press and not enough REAL value.

Go Lady Gaga!

So Lady Gaga at the VMAs was very interesting of course. Her first speech made me cry, especially when she mentioned Alexander McQueen and that her and her monsters were "cool kids on the block." I'm so emotional xD.

Anywayyyy, something that I didn't notice until just now was a close up of her meat dress! It's actually REAL MEAT. Take a look:

Believe it or not, I didn't really notice the dress while watching the VMAs.

Awesome shoes! The butcher string is just the right touch.

These are vintage jewels. Pretty cool huh? I think it's wonderful. (btw, LOVE her nail color, kinda similar to one I just bought)

She was seen in a meat bikini in VOGUE Hommes Japan, so the dress didn't exactly pop out of thin air.

So, I think this is cool and all, but I wish this dress stood for something a little bit more than "I don't want people treating me like meat." I thought it was going to be, stop processed foods or a commentary about the horrible meat packing industry. Perhaps I was too hopeful. A small misunderstanding and somewhat of a disappointment for me. Ever since seeing FIT's Eco-Fashion exhibit, I'm a little bit against Fashion for Fashion's sake.

European Chic

Anyone looking for great european clothes online besides TOPSHOP?? Well, I've just stumbled upon the best one yet. ASOS is a great european fashion website that ships to the USA for only $6. The merchandise isn't that pricey either!

Here's some european chic for you all: (btw... kinda just realized that a lot of japanese fashion is inspired from european style)

So all of it looks cool and amazing but eventually there is something very european like this:

Not sure what to think, but those pieces sure are risk takers!! Anyway, check out the website here: http://www.asos.com/.

Polyvore.

Yes, I do love Polyvore - both for the fashion and the graphic elements :). Here are two of my most recent sets.

I've always been inspired by artist's clothes. So many people in my art school express themselves through fashion, and it's so fun to look at the outfits there! Many have a bohemian style.

I work in Bryant Park, NY and it's so beautiful. I'm so inspired by the atmosphere and professional fashion there :). They also have an outdoors "reading room" where you can borrow a book/magazine and sit in the park.

My Dream Shoes

Ok, so basically.... these are my dream shoes. ChloƩ Bow-embellished Suede Pumps, anywhere from $600-$1,500 :).

From the Fall 2009 Ready-to-wear ChloƩ collection, designed by Hannah MacGibbon.

They look gorgeous in cream as well! The reality is though, I could probably never walk in them (as well as never afford them). :D But they're nice to look at aren't they?

So instead of buying those, I had to be content and buy these:

Yes, I've been having a bit of a shoes fetish lately... ever since ankle boots were in style.
